Flood Risk Map

If you are located in the Lower Brazos Flood Planning Region (Region 8), we invite you to review the draft floodplain quilt using our interactive viewer. The data shown in the floodplain quilt is a representation of the best available flood risk data in any given area but may not necessarily align with the regulatory floodplain used by FEMA and other agencies to determine insurance rates or other regulatory decisions. Use the map below to zoom to your address and provide feedback. Use the "Add a Feature" tool to drag a pin to the location where you want to share your input. Your feedback is crucial in shaping our flood planning efforts!

Flood Mitigation Needs Submittal Requests

Complete the Flood Mitigation Needs Form to have your projects and studies listed in the regional flood plan. If your community would like the opportunity to apply for future flood infrastructure and planning funds for a flood mitigation need, then it is critical for it to be ultimately listed in the State Flood Plan. Please submit your forms for each FMP, FME, and FMS to the technical consultant at Region8@halff.com. Those requesting FMPs should upload models and/or additional data to the link below. Submittals will be accepted until September 26, 2025.

TWDB Infrastructure Assessment Toolkit

As part of the regional flood planning process, the Lower Brazos – Region 8 – Regional Flood Planning Group is tasked with identifying flood infrastructure within the region and assessing its condition—whether it is functional or non-functional, and whether it meets current standards or is deficient.

However, during the first planning cycle, few communities across Texas, including those within Region 8, were able to fully compile and provide this information.

To support future planning efforts, research is underway to develop planning-level infrastructure condition assessment methods, including a toolkit that will help regional flood planning groups evaluate the condition of flood infrastructure more effectively in subsequent planning cycles.

This research will also examine existing infrastructure assessment indicators established by the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) Flood Planning Program and recommend improvements where applicable—ensuring a more comprehensive and actionable assessment process for Region 8 and other planning regions in Texas.
